Creating Beautiful Bodies and Minds
Supporting Positive Body Image with Fat Freezing
In the realm of body image, societal standards have undergone a profound evolution over the decades. From glorifying unattainable ideals in mainstream media, to progressively celebrating diversity, the narrative surrounding how we perceive our bodies has undergone a seismic shift. At Villanova Contour we aim to help you on your journey to creating beautiful bodies and minds, with our body sculpting studio centring on physical wellness as well as positive body image.
Amidst this evolving landscape, the concept of positive body image emerges, advocating for the celebration of diversity and the embrace of self-acceptance. As a society, we are beginning to move past conventional beauty norms, inviting individuals to appreciate and respect their bodies in all shapes, sizes, and forms. As the lead practitioner at Villanova Contour, a body contouring studio, I am passionate about strengthening body image - not tearing it down. At its core, positive body image embodies a holistic approach—one that intertwines physical, mental, and emotional well-being, fostering a profound sense of self-assurance and confidence.
The Psychology of Fat Freezing
When clients come to me for a consult, it’s usually because there is a part of their body that they feel uncomfortable about. Villanova Contour specialises in a process called Fat Freezing. While it might sound extreme, fat-freezing is a procedure that removes pockets of fat from stubborn areas - double chins, “bat wing” arms, and fat along the flanks. Usually, our clients have healthy workout regimens and routines, and these small areas that stubbornly hold onto fat are almost impossible to change with diet or exercise alone. They might be feeling frustrated or embarrassed when really they shouldn’t be! I see my role in their body transformation journey not as a practitioner of Fat Freezing, but as a supporter of their positive body image journey.
Beyond the physical changes, the psychological impact emerges as a pivotal aspect, illustrating how enhanced confidence and a newfound sense of well-being can manifest from aligning one's external appearance with internal self-perception. Having a client who moves from being self-conscious about a double chin, or who prefers to limit their clothing options because of an aspect of their body shape, to a person of confidence is a powerful metric. This is what creating beautiful bodies and minds is all about. Simply fat-freezing isn’t enough. The psychological uplift that accompanies these physical transformations amplifies the narrative of empowerment, elevating not just bodies but also the spirits and self-assurance of individuals navigating their unique paths to positive body image.
We recommend increasing water intake, as well as reducing coffee and alcohol intake, and partaking in an active lifestyle. You can read more about our tips for aftercare here. Fat freezing isn’t an “easy fix” that gets someone out of exercising - it’s part of a holistic journey of healthy mindset. We create beautiful bodies and minds holistically; this isn’t about simply freezing away fat.
Complementing these external aids are self-care practices and mindfulness techniques, fostering a deeper connection with one's body and emotions throughout the transformation process. The fusion of these elements forms a robust framework, empowering individuals to navigate their unique journeys toward positive body image with resilience, balance, and self-compassion.
As we move into 2024, we encourage a healthy mindset, body positivity and mindfulness in creating beautiful bodies and minds. Body positivity isn’t about having the perfect body, but about embracing what you have, highlighting your favourite parts and feeling good about yourself. Make choices that will improve your body and mindset - start a fitness regimen, or aim to drink more water - and embrace your body and any changes you would like to make, not as a critical self-reflection, but as an empowered moment of choice and positivity.
